Things to Do in Imlil & Mount Toubkal

Imlil, about 1.5 hours from Marrakech, is the trailhead village for Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak at 4,167 metres — a serious two-day trek with a mountain refuge overnight, not a stroll. Even without summiting, the valley has good half-day walks between villages, with mules doing the heavy lifting on the steeper paths. Snow closes the higher trails from around December to April, and a guide is effectively mandatory for Toubkal itself.
