Things to Do in the Dades Valley

The Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, Tinghir and Skoura string together along the so-called Road of a Thousand Kasbahs south of the High Atlas, each a half-day stop rather than a destination on its own. Todra Gorge is the standout — sheer rock walls close enough to touch, a few hundred metres apart — while Skoura's palm-grove kasbahs are quieter and increasingly ruined. Doing the full route from Marrakech and back is a multi-day trip; treat it as a leg toward Merzouga rather than a day out.
